Hi,

I know that RedMystic already supports EAN & UPC by inserting  a. UPC#XXXXX#   b. EAN#XXXXX#    b. ISBN#XXXXX# to the product description but is there anyone else who already has and needs the barcode information to be in a seperate database field?

 

It might just be me - but I do use my VM DB for other software and uses!

Hi Oliver,

the big one right now is MPN. Apparently Google is going to be rejecting products starting tomorrow that do not include them. Ver !.3.13 addresses this.

Is it possible to use the short description for UPC codes? I have many child products which use parent description. It might be better for me to use short description instead

Hi,

try changing the DESCRIPTION_FIELD configuration setting in the virtuemart section of redmystic's configuration.

Not sure you got what I meant. I still want to use the long description for my products but was just wondering if we could set the EAN barcode number to be taken from the short description instead of the long. With Parent / Child products I set the child to use the same description as the parent. But if I then add the EAN to the description then the option to use parent description is over ridden and I am getting just the EAN code.

Hi David,

 

Did you ever find a easy way to pull the EAN/UPC from a source other than the one RedMystic uses for the product description?

 

I currently use the short product description for Google but all of my EAN/UPC data is held in the main product description as there is not enough space in my short description. I havent yet been able to pull the EAN/UPC data from the main product description.
