Hi Garry

after a bit of info if poss, does redmystic pick up on the attributes within a product.ie

if i have a products but within that  i have say 6 attributes within that product of different colours and sizes all with different part numbers does redmystic pull the attributes and list them too,

reason i am asking is that on our site www.motocare.co.uk we sell zunsport car grilles each car has say an upper and lower grille in stainless steel or black, the attributes will specify if you want the upper lower or full set and colour , all have there own part nuimber but i dont have part number in the attribute list, i will however put the part number in the attribute if it will get uploaded to google base.

if you can let me know, or if this is something that you can implement in a future release

cheers

Dave

Hi

The short answer is no not yet. However if you are using child products which it sounds like you are then each product will have it's own sku and will be listed invidually within the feed. I've been thinking about this for a while and surprisingly you are the first person to ask about it. No promises but I'll see what's possible.

Cheers,

Garry

Hi Garry for each product say subaru imprezze grille we list the full set in stainless steel, which has a part number, then within the product details we just list the different products in a drop down box, say lower grill only upper grill only and different colours, none of these have part numbers on the site anywhere.check out the screen shots, and not too sure about this child thing..   cheers garry

Got it.

I've been digging into this a bit and the trick of the whole thing is lining it up with what Google will accept. Unlucky for us there isn't a perfect fit here. THere is no attribute field in the google specification that we can use.  Just to be clear we are only talking standard attributes (Not custom).

But here are the options as I see it:

1. Add the attribute list to the end of the description field

Pro: Easy to develop. No additional redmystic server changes required. Large capacity for text. Most people will have no issues including all their attributes

Cons: Descriptions get a bit ugly.

2. Add the attributes to the categories list

Pro: Makes some sense and is cleaner than using descriptions

Con: There is a finite list of categories that google will accept. If a site has many categories/attributes then some will be not included.

3. Add to genre field

         Pro: Supports multiple entries

Con: Usage of this field is unknown. It is also not intuitive at all

4. Provide you the option of picking 1,2 or 3

Pro: Let you guys decide the method

Con: More work for me. No big deal though

If anyone has any other thoughts I'm all ears. Here is the Google specification if interested: http://www.google.com/support/merchants/bin/answer.py?answer=160085&hl=en

I'd like to build this into the next release so post your comments

Cheers,

Garry
