These are the step by step instructions from start to finish that will help you get your products loaded onto Redmystic and Google Merchant. It may be appear to be daunting but many of the steps are very simple and obvious. Also we provide video tutorials that can be helpful here
The first thing you need is to download and configure our Joomla/Virtuemart component and module.
1. Register for an account on Redmystic.com here
2. Login and download the component and module from Redmystic.com (Both are free) here
3. Register your site here and obtain a site key
4. Install both the component to your Joomla site using the standard Joomla installer
a. A setup wizard will ask you for the most important information (including the site key from step 3)
5. Install and publish the module to your Joomla site using the standard Joomla installer
6. Both the component and module have lots of configuration settings that can help you tune things just the way you want them
7. Navigate to the Component configuration page and run all the tests. If errors appear you should be provided with guidance on how to fix them.
Google Merchant Setup
8. If you don't already have one then you need to create a general purpose Google account. This is the same one use for gmail, analytics, webmaster tools etc
9. Login into Google Merchant Center here
10. Setup a new account. It will request information from you
11. Make sure information in Settings->General is complete
12. Setup an FTP account in Settings->FTP. Take that username/password and copy it to the component configuration under the GOogle merchant section and enter it there.
13. Click data feeds and then "New Data Feed" button.
14. Enter the data feed name as: prods.zip
15. In some countries you can specifiy the format: choose googlebase
Force a feed refresh to load your products (The module will take care of keeping your products automatically loaded. We're just impatient and want to force it now)
16. Back on your site, navigate to the product monitor page. Click the "Notify Redmystic" button. THis will override the default behavior and force a feed refresh.
Check your products
17. Once Redmystic completes processing your feed you will receive an email.
18. Search for products on redmystic using this search string: site:yourdomain.com (it may take some time for products to be searchable so be patient)
19. Check the status within google merchant. Look at the status column on the data feeds column. Clicking on the link will provide details to issues.
19. Check the products menu in google merchant. You should see products slowly showing up.
